I was fortunate enough to be admitted to a public university, a very cheap and revered one, too, compared to the private colleges in the area AND other public universities that are far more expensive for some reason. I had heard horror stories about both private universities and the fancy public ones and I was dead-set on getting into this college.
Unfortunately, the programs I entered were a lot more stressful than I thought, and I ended up loosing my scholarships before suffering a nervous breakdown earlier this year. All because I went from a 3.5 GPA to a 3.45 GPA. I could tell the guidance counselor was pushing me towards getting loans. At first, it didn't bother me as much. The university was very kind and let me go to therapy before returning to the college, like nothing had happened. I plan on returning in the summer if possible or the fall if not.
The debt managers, however, were not so kind, and kept hounding me to pay them money I didn't have, let alone was in no shape to earn (I didn't work during my high school years to focus on getting good grades, so I have no job experience, and I have not been able to find work. I have been looking for work for 4 years now,m both during my university years and my out-of-college year, and I can't even get a job pushing a mop around, let alone at the really fancy places like McDonald's and Wendy's).
My delinquencies and interest have added up over the months, and I'm now almost $2k more in debt than I was initially to a total of $20k.
I am determined to return to college so that I may somehow work towards changing the way education works in this country, fundamentally.
It isn't just me that has fallen out of the saddle after riding for 4 years. For the 3 years I studied, I didn't go out to party, I didn't do drugs, all I did during my college years was study and volunteer and get what little sleep I could before getting up at 4 AM every morning and doing it all over again. It drove me and many, many other students to the brink.
This needs to stop. Education isn't meant to be a fucking Ferengi strip club.
My own sister, who has better grades than me and attended a better university than mine and went to medical school still can't find a job. -
Democrats Redtape and taxes did it

I like how Corinthian tried to punk him, and got smacked down lol

I should've gone to college in another country.
This episode wasn't as good as others. It was mostly about for-profit schools. I don't get how they're responsible for rising student debts. Most colleges are not-for-profit, and they're competing with one another. -
Its funny now that ITT tech is closed now
-
If you find yourself thinking it'd be a good idea to go to one of these "for profit" schools like ITT . . . that's sort of like getting a 20 on the SAT in the first place, right? In both cases, you should probably stop and think, "you know what? Trade school is an increasingly viable option these days."

Here in Germany we even have a dual study programm, in which you finish your Bachelor's degree in 3 years while working half the time for a certain company. You gain a lot of experiences during your time working whether in Germany itself or abroad. Additionally, it's highly probable that the company wants to employ you after the 3 years because they have invested so much money in your education. The best thing about it? During the whole 3 years you are paid! (Most students start at ~1.000$ per month in their first year)Pretty sweet deal, huh America?

The way it happened is that just like with a house, a college education is worth what ever a bank will lend to pay it. The more the banks are willing to lend the more a university can charge for its education. FYI John - there were no good intentions in this - it is called debt peonage.
-
Sell your house, sell your car, quit your job, default on all of your debt, and burn all of the cash. This is the only way we will ever make progress as a nation.
-
Actually, "Going after veterans" can also be used for Girl Scouts, selling cookies. OTHER THAN THAT and what John said, there's basically nothing...
-
Is there not one sort of system that isn't under the banner of capitalists!
-
This is sad. Very sad....our generation is focked in the arse lol....good luck to us

departure desire century salad senate recipient precisely.

Fuck me, you Yanks suck!
-
why not make student debt illegal, its fucking stupid how its applied to students, I want to make it that all colleges are forced to wipe the students debt or face a hefty fine, especially universities
