The Graduate and Professional Student Assembly and Center for Integrative Leadership are co-hosting a forum on the Sustainability of Higher Education on Monday, October 14, 5-9pm, in Memorial Hall at the McNamara Alumni Center, and satellite conversations in Duluth and Morris. Panel Included: Kim Thanos, from Lumen Learning, has worked on cross-institutional projects that address strategic needs and challenges of higher education. She works to help institutions adopt an evidence-based approach to using open educational resources to eliminate textbook costs and improve student success. Steve Hine from MN DEED will speak about the Skills Gap and its importance in higher education sustainability. Steve is the director of the Labor Market Information Office at DEED. He has a master's degree and Ph.D. in economics from Washington State University in Pullman. Rebecca Ropers-Huilman is Professor and Chair in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development at the University of Minnesota. She has published five books and more than 40 articles or book chapters, all of which related to equity, diversity, and change in higher education contexts. John Moravec is a scholar on the future of work and education; a global speaker; editor of the Knowmad Society project; co-director of the Invisible Learning project; and the founder of Education Futures LLC [http://www.educationfutures.com]. His work on knowmadic learning inspired the creation of the Knowmads Business School in Amsterdam.
