As the focus on test scores increases, creativity decreases. Is this really a surprise?

I agree with Cholle that Intuitive Intelligence is an incredibly important skill for everyone to develop. Being able to access our unconscious in a more regular way could help us solve many of the difficult problems we are currently facing. Interesting that his performance experience had such an impact on his business thinking.

Its all about applying the right tool for the right situation and resource frame. If a saber tooth tiger is breathing down your neck its probably better to move than sit down and think strategy. If you run, youve bought more time. If youre lucky - time to think. If you are even more lucky - practised behaviours will intuitively spring to your aid while your intention chrystallizes.

Great TED Talk.

Jimmy, no. You don't understand nor have you read his book. He constantly talks about interplay and balancing of more instinctive/non-conscious thinking and conscious/logical reasoning. Both are needed. And yes, intuition is error prone, but so is logical reasoning (performed by humans). This is just what we have to live with. That doesn't mean we can't utilize intuition AND conscious reasoning for what they both do best (regardless of their errors).

A French man coming to tell the Americans how uncreative they are without showing a single fact or data sheet. He claims Americans have been declining for 20 years - how so? How was this measured? Fail TED Talk. The French need to source the shit they spew out their mouths.

I have not heard so much shit in a long time. Is this dude a wannabe philosopher? Scientist? Everything I heard is speculative and based on assumptions he does not dare mention.

My instinct tells me, the cycle is wrong. Reason is not the opposite of instinct !!! As he said unconsciously > reason. So, it somehow contains reasoning..... it's like say I have 2 coins, and 2 >1, then 1 coin is not part of my 2 coins..

Creativity is in decline, I believe, because in America, the people don't push education. Therefore, kids don't know how to learn. They don't want to see the beauty of it. They are given ipods, ipads and more games than you can shake a stick at, and are told, be on your own, don't bother me.

Stupid. You missed completly the point of this talk.

I was starting to get angry with this guy because he skips around actually describing what his wishy-washy idea of "play" LOOKS like in real life, thus undermining the entire talk. But then I noticed he pronounces the word "developed" as "Divvle upped", and with that I found inner peace.
