Is the LTI standard based on the API concept? If not, are there advantages and disadvantages to using Tin can API to extend the functionality of an LMS (e.g. Moodle). I'm not well up on this stuff but my guess is that when you use LTI to integrate 2 online services (e.g. Moodle and Piazza) someone else has already done the coding work using some sort of technique such as API? Just trying to educate myself here - any clarification would be great.
