The Atlantic Slave Trade: Crash Course World History #24
Economy | Information | History | Online | Facts | World | Global | Money
In which John Green teaches you about one of the least funny subjects in history: slavery. John investigates when and where slavery originated, how it changed over the centuries, and how Europeans and colonists in the Americas arrived at the idea that people could own other people based on skin color. Slavery has existed as long as humans have had civilization, but the Atlantic Slave Trade was the height, or depth, of dehumanizing, brutal, chattel slavery. American slavery ended less than 150 years ago. In some parts of the world, it is still going on. So how do we reconcile that with modern life? In a desperate attempt at comic relief, Boba Fett makes an appearance. You should not shy away from mentioning slaves in the christian world just because you were "scared" away by the comments of religious fanatics!
-
A slave is always considered to be less than that of a person, doesn't matter what ethnicity or race they are.

Everyone already knows or should know that africans enslaved other Africans. They were on the same continent, i'm sure that it was more convenient to capture slaves in the same region than to go to a different country entirely. But Africans weren't the first to enslave others of similar descent. It's happened everywhere, slavery is nothing new under the sun and has always been around so the fact that people bring this up to justify or lessen the act of the slave trade between white europeans and Africans is just ridiculous. What white europeans did differently they actually created the basis for the racial system that we see to this day! Africans didn't do that, how could they? That's why this is so important and that is why we will ALWAYS talk about the slave trade between white europeans more often.

The trans atlantic slave trade was unlike any form of slavery that came before it. It was different because it considered slavery as the basis of the economic system based on plantations in corporate colonies. In reality this is the basis of the global corporate agricultural/industrial slave complex which touches all parts of the planet. Islam did not have this and Europe did not have this either until they started setting up colonies all over the world. Islamic slaves could be household servants, harem servants, tradesmen, diplomats and soldiers, with those higher skilled folks also receiving a salary of sorts, making them more like indentured servants. Also the word slave comes from "SLAV" as in the various Slavic people who were enslaved by Europeans and Muslims. Therefore slavery is not synonymous with African. And Africans did not have slave plantations nor an economic system based around slave labor. They had war captives and were willing to sell war captives to European slave traders. That is not the same as chattel slavery. African kingdoms were having wars with each other because of the spread of Islam and because of divide and conquer where Europeans amplify and promote conflict in order to generate more war captives. And not only that but Europeans also raided and captured slaves directly in Africa. So no, Africans were not 'enslaving' Africans prior to Europeans in the same way Africans were enslaved in America. That is totally and completely false. Point of fact most Europeans prior to the 1500s were peasants and the defacto slaves of the upper classes, while African societies were much more open and not as oppressive. In fact, the lives of the average European was much worse than most of the other cultures outside Europe, which is why they started shipping the peasants around the world to set up colonies in the first place.

The Portuguese started the Slave Trade and The English abolished it.

The truth is, all people's played a role in the destructive institution of slavery, including Native Americans as well as African Americans. Now, I'm not making excuses for the White European Christians who played a role in the American slave trade, just simply highlighting the anti-White, deceptive narrative continuing to be pushed by the 'Jewish supremacists' dominating all forms of our media today.
-
The Old Testament wholeheartedly supports the institution of slavery. The bible makes it clear that Israelites may forever engage in slavery of other peoples, but they must not enslave their own.
-
The British not only outlawed slavery of their own ships, of their own merchants (and a lot of them were Jews too), but they literally stopped slave ships on the high seas and returned the Africans back to their homes.
-
Zionist owned Hollywood makes movies depicting only Christian owed ships to instill White guilt, but Jewish merchants dominated the transatlantic slave trade where 8 million Africans perished.
-
Pretty fascinating that after 200 years(1600s), the spanish still housed the muslim ideals of slavery and the idea that light-skin was superior in a divine sense.
-
I never knew africans sold each other when i was younger. They never told me that in school.

This is the first time I've ever looked at the comments of a John green video. I've only looked at four or five and I already regret it. Too many people have an "us vs. them" complex on BOTH SIDES of the argument and it's just making me mad.
