HE Mr Patrick Renault Ambassador of Belgium 2nd March, 2012 How did the crisis of the Euro develop -- and why? The Euro, the dream of so many after World War II, now needs a rescue plan, with donor countries insisting on more control over how recipients use the funds. With billions of Euros on the way to avoid Greek bankruptcy, in Athens thousands protest against austerity measures. Is it the end of financial sovereignty for Greece? How can the crisis be contained, and what is the permanent solution? Ambassador Patrick Renault discusses the causes of the current Eurozone turmoil and its consequences for the European and global economy. He highlights the intricacies of deepening European integration and its possible future directions. Ambassador Renault draws attention to the differences between the EU and other regional economic systems and to challenges facing EU monetary and political union. H.E. Mr Patrick Renault has been Ambassador of Belgium in Canberra since September 2009. Since 1989 he has held the positions of Diplomatic Advisor of the Vice Prime Minister-Minister of Labour and Chances Equality; Director Press & Communication-Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ambassador in Pakistan and Afghanistan; Dean of the Consular Corps-Sydney and Consul General in Sydney, Australia.

Why should we feel sorry for Greek civil servants if they get a 25% salary cut? (Most are suffering a much lower cut, and this is a problem hindering the recovery). Do they feel sympathy for business people like me when a recession drops my income by 75% through no fault of my own. Civil servants are lazy slobs who do minimum work and have zero risk and maximum benefits. Screw them. And if the EU is in such a mess, why is the Europ so high? It's a scandal, a conspiracy of greed and stupidity.

What he's saying is that people in Europe acted like greedy pigs. We already know this. Therefore they must face the pain. The more severe the better. if you are greedy, lazy, corrupt and stupid you deserve this just punishment. I just wish I could force those Socialist-oriented and vastly overpaid European Parliamentarians to live in Greece and suffer the same pain too.
