And, as the world's economies bear witness, the Economics Ph.Ds have been there and done that! Three comestibles were marooned on a desert island. They found a can of Marmalade. The Black Forest Scientist tried to burn the can open by focusing the Sun's rays through his spectacles. From dawn to dusk and it didn't work. The engineering Ph.D crumpet suggested they climb a tree and drop the can. The economist would have none of this. "Even if any of us could climb, the contents would not be edible scattered over the sand", She said. As she had elected herself the Premier, the commons turned upon her and demanded a solution. The Economist sat back and interlocked her fingers unctuously over her tum-tum. Her eyes gleamed with Ph.D wisdom through the opacity of her mind and the translucence of her misted over spectacles. Her left lip curled down in grim determination while her right curled upwards in cheerful optimism. The very picture of a baroness in the making posing for a sculpture, "Let us assume a can opener", Quoth the tart, "And, while we are about it, let's print some currency to buy some more marmalade tins"
