I visited Philippines in August 2016. Dirty. Trash on the streets. Open gutters w/black foul-smelling fermenting sewage. Rats scampering thru the streets of Manila. Cute kids everywhere in the slums with a bleak future. Filipinos, remember: the wealth of 1 Singaporean must be shared by 20 Filipinos. Stop having so many children. And get an education.

Even though our country (Philippines) is not that rich, we are rich in our own culture and good personalities that even detainees here are friendly. Even if our country has many dirty lands, full of crimes, corrupt governments and so forth, still, there are positive borders in our country for examples, we are the smartest country in Asia when it comes to English, We have one of the fastest economy growth, filipinos with unacceptable traits can be deal with if you have a harmonious relationship with them, we are the land of GREATEST singers, we have rich Filipino traits like "Bayanihan" and hospitality and etc.

For three straight years up to 2013, the NAIA was voted the “worst airport in Asia” by the travel website Sleeping in Airports. Like the Philippines’ criminal government, however, the sorry state in which the NAIA is in only reflects the character of the people who tolerate its continued failure.

Philippines was that rich but so many Corrupt Governments

Philippines GDP is growing fast because it's population is growing faster but living standard hasn't improved much in the past in per capital and now China is 3 times richer than Pinoy but China has communist government with 13 times more population. Anybody can see this as bad management by Philippines government and it need dictator who cares about its people and not his pocket book to use its resources more carefully for its people. When country is poor, you need strong leadership like dictator to manage its resources more effectively for growing its economy. US type democracy isn't the best suited for poor countries with poor natural resources. There are plenty examples like South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore all experienced strong leadership in the beginning to catch up with the west. Japan was managed by general MacArthur with strong US support after the war and HK was supported by UK thus dictatorship wasn't necessary in those countries.

It is indeed a marvel but the Philippines relies too heavily in Metro Manila. Other cities don't even come remotely close to what Manila offers. Imagine just how more progressive this country can be if more cities or developed.

Deym, I fell in love to my country with this. hehe. Only problem really that prevents this country from growing even more is the bad politics and rampant corruption. Leaders who think of themselves that in general makes the other good politicians look bad too. I hope we could fix our government, because all in all, we should have been a rich nation decades ago along with S. Korea and Japan.
