The Resident: How the Economy Is a Ponzi Scheme
Economy | Information | History | Online | Facts | World | Global | Money
Bill Gross, Nouriel Roubini, the Wall Street Journal and many others say that our entire economy is a Ponzi scheme. The world's economy is built on a system that requires ever more people to consumer ever more products. Building an economy that constantly leverages the prosperity of a society's future is bad enough: the fact that ours might fail sooner than later is cause for great alarm. As fertility rates continue to fall, we are in danger of losing the sheer numbers of consumers it will require to keep our current Ponzi-like economy going. Calling your audience (who was clever enough to look for this video) a bunch of "idiots" is an awesome way of alienating them & gaining haters. And what is with this girl's voice? Please get a new spokesperson, this one is a disaster.

i like this video but I think she is wrong on a couple things here. love the whole notion that it's a big scheme, obviously. but the other part that birthrates are falling. sure they are falling but our overall population is still out of control, with the biggest fools having those kids. so what I see ultimately happening is those me,me,me, generation, us. is here and they will add another me to the next one ,continue to have kids exponentially and the world fills up to almost full. an overcrowded smelly bus and everyone wants to get off. I think it's already bad but could get much worse. we could easily double this population once again if we all agree to even less. and we will. double wide cardboard boxes will be a luxury. the scheme idea will essentially be like a sideways market. Itl never really die and isn't the real issue.

Like a flea epidemic incapable of stopping itself, I see humanity the same way because of religion and irrationality. No offense to those for example ; poor white trash, Hispanics, muslims, having as many kids as humanly possible and never using birth control...where fertility is seen as God's gift...goes for saying those who consume alot are just as big of a problem. I'm ready to move to Colorado near Durango and start a hippie commune, totally self sufficient and off the grid. Frankly I'm sick of society and the Midwest mentality. I want out. I want to live simple and get back to the land. A high tech Society in a larger city is dehumanizing and creates alienation.

Again, anyone who takes bringing a child into existence so lightly without considering the dangers of the hopeless future they will have, is extremely selfish. This lady is exactly right. The definition of insanity is doing something over and over and expecting different results.

If people would stop believeing in God and see the futility of future existence of the human race, we could all stop reproducing and quietly go into the history books as the horrible experiment gone wrong that we are.

The native americans did just fine before they were wiped out of existence.

Actually, according to a 2001 UN report, two out of three estimates of the planet’s maximum carrying capacity (number of people the world can keep alive) put it between 4 and 16 billion, with a median of roughly 10 billion, and the UNFPA estimates that the world population will stabilize at roughly 10 billion by 2083. Since there's something like 7-8 billion people right now, that's not a lot more. In other words, growth is steadily slowing down. If you want sources for these claims, PM me :)

No one can afford children anymore. Too much time working, and too many massmurders in schools.

Not at all. The current system that we abide by is a market one, which it driven by the scarcity of finite resources. That's why we have, unfortunately, "Classes" of ppl. For me to live comfortably, many must suffer because humans don't live sustainably. With less population, there is less suffering. But ppl can make a difference by buying organic and eating vegan as much as possible to promote sustainability in our food resources at least - that's one example.

"I'm glad the world population isn't growing exponentially." Sarcasm, yes?
-
I'm glad the world population isn't growing exponentially. With less stress on resources, maybe the cost of living will go down. Sheesh.

The US needs to be a net exporter of goods and stop consuming foreign energy sources.
