Yet a growing middle class with heavy pockets and high hopes could transform Filipino society. The Philippines has quickly become the world’s largest call centre country. With over a million workers, the industry is growing fast and attracting international companies to outsource their business operations there. With a lucrative call-centre job, engineer Sherryl Costello says she and husband Neil can finally buy "not only things we need but also things we like". Their little son has his own bank account - and a tablet. But the new middle class expect more than just material prizes and outsourcing alone will not create a more inclusive economy. "We want good education, better health services, roads and transportation", says sales manager, Neil. They might just get what they want; in fifteen years Asia is expected to have more than half of the world's purchasing power. (OO:48) "The infrastructure is fantastic..." -- bullshit.
Trash all over the streets. Can't find trash bins. Open gutters w/stagnant black festering liquid & gunk. Traffic: public transportation relies on privately owned jeepneys and tricycles and motorcycles that all are not coordinated w/each other. Pollution: everything's old so the smog emitted from these vehicles are twice as worse. -
Went Phlippines in Aug 2016. They need to use CONDOMS. Kids all over the place with no future.

It good to see the Philippines is improving. They are still need to improve in a lot more aspect in their societies. Like combating graft and corruption as well as poverty is a big one. But it is still good to see they heading on the right path of progress. Outsource more industries to the Philippines. The Philippines should add more industry sectors so it not only depending on one BPO industry for economic growth. Keep up the good work PHILIPPINES. BUSINESS: IT IS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES.

It's interesting that the youtube video title ("The Rising Middle Class Transforming Filipino Society") and the actual title in the video at 0:16 ("Manila's Rising Middle Class") are different, which can give viewers the wrong idea.
I think the title at 0:16 is more accurate for this video because the reality of the situation is that most of the economic and political power lies in Manila. Without knowing this key piece of information, viewers will think that the middle class is rising throughout the Philippines which isn't exactly the case. Hopefully federalism will change this if Duterte becomes president....
Also, I don't get why people are getting mad/annoyed that the lady bought herself some Jordans. Is she not allowed to enjoy her money every once in a while? Talk about hypocrisy... -
