This Is The Income Inequality Video CEOs Don’t Want Americans To See

“If Michael Norton’s research is to be believed, Americans don’t have the faintest clue how severe economic inequality has become—and if they only knew, they’d be appalled. Consider the Harvard Business School professor’s new study examining public opinion about executive compensation, co-authored with the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok’s Sorapop Kiatpongsan. In the 1960s, the typical corporate chieftain in the U.S. earned 20 times as much as the average employee. Today, depending on whose estimate you choose, he makes anywhere from 272 to 354 times as much. According to the AFL-CIO, the average CEO takes home more than $12 million, while the average worker makes about $34,000. In their study, Norton and Kiatpongsan asked about 55,000 people around the globe, including 1,581 participants in the U.S., how much money they thought corporate CEOs made compared with unskilled factory workers."* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more here from Jordan Weissmann / Slate: http://www.slate.com/articles/business/moneybox/2014/09/americans_have_no_idea_how_bad_inequality_is_new_harvard_business_school.html Help end the corrupting influence of money in politics: SUPPORT the 28th Amendment to #GetMoneyOut http://www.wolf-pac.com/petition?=tyt.... I do urge people to consider that salaries for CEOs are like any other labor market salary. It takes a certain kind of person to run businesses, and it sure as heck is not as easy as people think. I do find it funny though, that sometimes when people argue about how much a CEO should be making, they then turn around and start complaining how their favorite sports team didn't sign a five or six million dollar contract for a certain player/coach.

Outrageously true!!!!!!

I think you should be allowed to make as much money as you possibly can. it's okay to make a lot of money. earned money is not stolen money. what we need to do is reduce government involvement in business to prevent collusion between big business and the fed because that would be stealing.

What is the practical purpose of reducing CEO's salaries? CEOs are above avg. employee, it is been debunked time after tiem that if the excessive CEO salary where to be shared among employees, every employee would receive nothing but peanuts. For the most part they are not the billionaires, but smart people with special talents that have a certain price in the market. Love how TYT says that he would rather find a very smart guy for a lot less money, if that guy is really smart his market price will be equally high and even if he is a fresh man, if the guy has the know-how his market price will increase immediately.

Who cares about inequality?
So long as everyone is gaining it doesn't matter -
You're essentially right, but I'm sorry: you can't go back to those times. Those times are gone. Free market capitalism as it used be was just a historical phase, and as such it was bound to end from the very beginning. What you'll have now is a revolution ( most probably in the form of violent riots, it's always happened like that) and then a totally new system will be put in place. What kind of system no one knows. If it's better or worse... this no one knows either.

We picked one of the most socialist societies and Bernie lost? System isRIGGED

TYT back at it again with the Bs

Although I aprove of this story I wish idiots in the American media would stop using terms like "socialism" to mean any system that is more left leaning than them. In short Sweden is not socialist. And it's hillarious that Cenk says "I support capitalism" then moan about capitalists trying to increase how much value they can extract from the worker's productivity lol

Brilliant and insightful analysis. The power of propaganda over truth in America is truly staggering!!!
