Montgomery. Burns = neoliberalism's poster boy.

Neoliberalism is just another term for staggering transfers of wealth and power to fewer and fewer people, where the consequences of economic and political decisions are steadily removed further and further from those they affect. So local and state decisions are transferred nationally; national decisions are transferred to continental economic groups (NAFTA, EU etc.) and those economic groups take their marching orders from international organisations i.e. World Bank, IMF, WTO, Goldman Sachs, Bilderberg Group etc. Until you reach a point where something that is happening in your local town, such as a new shop opening, a fracking well, or a pipeline being built - the decision for that could well be taking place on the other side of the globe. No wonder people are voting against the EU and for Trump. People, on the left and right, are sick and tired of soulless financiers and politicians destroying their communities and environment and being told to shut up.
We either turn away from neoliberalism, or we face the end of civilisation as we know it. Buy from locally owned cafes, shops and restaurants and fuck McDonald's, Starbucks and Walmart to one side! :-D -
The term "neoliberalism" is an attempt to link classical liberalism with crony corporatism. The growth in state power leads to regulatory capture. "I do not believe it's proper to put the situation in the terms that it's industrialists versus government. On the contrary, one of the reasons why I am in favor of less government is because when you have more government, industrialists take it over, and the two together form a coalition against the ordinary worker and the ordinary consumer. I think business is a wonderful institution, provided it has to face competition in the marketplace and can't get away with something except by producing a better product at a lower cost, and that's why I don't want government to step in and help the business community." --Milton Friedman

the Govt seems to favor subsidizing over "let the market decide" so are they for Free markets? No

For what I've learned in school about neoliberalism. What you've just said is actually liberalism.
-
definitely biased
-
Fuck neoliberalism
-
I always thought neoliberalism meant the Clinton-ism, the "moderate democrat" but I guess I was wrong.
-
Filipinos really love this one, tho. Even going as far as taking pride in having their localities (say, Manila, Cebu, Davao, etc.) newly laden with foreign corporations like Dunkin' Donuts, 7/11 and McDonald's while neglecting and even insulting the countryside and urban poor.
-
This seems extremely biased.
-
People are so FUCKING stupid. Neoliberalism will fuck humanity up like never before, but there are still idiots screaming for it!

I'm intrigued on education reform for private companies. can someone point me in the right direction?

This is a horrible video. It gives the impression that any opposition to a growing state is basically morally deficient. It says that without a growing government to overwhelm the private sector, the private sector will take over you. Well as Milton Friedman said, an ardent supporter of neoliberal ideals, the record of history is crystal clear that there has never been a better economic system so effective at lifting people out of poverty as free market capitalism has been. Even more, there is little in neoliberalism that claims "government" should be ran like private industry. You can claim that privatizing the public school system is taking a government function and giving it to the private sector, but that's it you ignore the fact that school has always been private in this country, and it had a much better track record when it was. School, in and of itself, is naturally a private institution to begin with.

everytime you see anything gets shoe horned with diversity;
-black protagonist
-strong woman lead
-gay rights
-lgbt attackhelicopter pronouns
they're trying to sell you a product
and just fuck my shit up, fam
(if you don't support this, you're a racist muhsoggyknee, etc etc) -
This is nothing but propaganda, name a single neoliberal that supports corporate welfare or non-progressive tax systems?
Liberal means "of and pertaining to freedom" NOT "Equality".
The ideas of "Equality" are purely Marxist and by definition are Socialist and Communist which have nothing in common with liberalism and are only about increasing control over individuals by the police and the state. -
Honestly after watching the video it felt way too politically motivated rather than informative and had a clear subjective motive, it criticises and bollocks the ideology without really informing the viewer on what neo-Liberalism is due to clear ignorance of Bentham and Mills theory of utilitarianism which you could've had a field day on criticising. Rather it's critical to mention the decline of the term and the shift towards Libertarianism highlighted with scholars such as Hayek and Friedman.Just to mention I am certainly not a Libertarian I am a Conservative through and through however I just feel this isn't a fair representation of a groups views.

Tech companies have also infected UK schools by promoting a totally tech-based education system. Aka producing a generation of tech foot soldiers to feed the corporate behemoths. .

The unfortunate thing about neo-liberalism isn't the concept itself; I'd argue that on principle it's a seemingly ideal way to go about nation building. The fact is ANY economic ideology is subject to corruption and greed. On face value every ideology can work provided this notion of the "greater good" is upheld. We saw how corruption corroded Communist Russia; America survives today because it's done a bang up job convincing the public that its concepts are fail proof - and any failure that's befallen us is the direct result of interventionist policies instead of the other way around. We are essentially the frog that boiled slowly in hot water whereas the USSR was the frog that was dropped in already boiling water, seeing how they had massive issues they were ill-equipped to deal with before Communism took hold. BUT the real issue is and always will be whether or not the leaders of nations actually hold their people's best interests in mind.

This is a great video. I use it all the time to explain this idea, and it is an idea that is hidden in our political discourse. The designed opposition of the two parties narrative is too often the only narrative that we hear. But Neoliberalism is the cause of the problems we see in US society. The culture of greed without regard to ethics and fallout is net detrimental for human society. And if we are ever to deal with the private debt crisis and horrible hyperinflation cycle we have to deal with Neoliberalism in the US and world.

Neo-liberalism is just a repackaging of the same old liberalism. Liberalism is just a repackaging of classical capitalism. Different day, same ruling ideology.
