Song: Wings by 009 Sound System This video describes the richest countries on the continent by GDP Nominal, in other words this is a list of African countries sorted by their nominal gross domestic product (GDP), the market value of all final goods and services from a nation in a given year. The GDP dollar values presented here are calculated at market or government official exchange rates by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff. The GDP Nominal must not to be confused with GDP Purchasing Power Parity and GDP Per Capita. Some those countries still have to make serious effort in fighting corruption and decrease inequality for their populations, this will require a chance of mentality and attitude on both sides, politicians and their country men/women. This does not change the fact that most of the time Africans are their own worse enemy; every country can have the ability to use its resources if it is governed by people and politicians who are competent, it is about how they use the money to improve the standard of living of their populations. The reason why I am saying that we, Africans are our own worst enemy, it is because Africa is still by far the poorest inhabited continent in the world, despite having some of the richest countries in the world by Purchasing Power Parity like: South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria etc., despite also having countries like Mauritius, Cape Verde, Botswana, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Seychelles and Comoros, countries that have the highest standard of living on the continent making significant gains, no African country has has ever been a member of the OECD. The decolonization of Africa was fraught with instability aggravated by cold war conflict. Since the mid-20th century, the Cold War and increased corruption and despotism have also contributed to Africa's poor economy. The biggest contrast in terms of development has been between Africa and the economy of Europe. We have wasted our energy hypnotizing ourselves believing that all our failures in life and society are due to Colonialism and the White man going after us. This has been going on in lots of other African countries. And it is clear that the problem is not with white people; the problem is with the us, Blacks ourselves. But how many us, black people are willing to admit it? Most of the time we are the ones who cause our own disasters, yet we fail to find achievable and long term solutions because we suppress the individual and forces a conformism upon the people. This makes them very susceptible to being herded like sheep and unwilling to stand up as leaders who will be prepared to go against the grain.
