Speakers: Robert Gerwarth, John Horne Chair: Dr John F Jungclaussen Recorded on 3 October 2014 in Shaw Library, Old Building. The First World War separates one of the longest periods of European great power peace from several decades of unprecedented violence. The traces of the War and its legacies can still be observed today, be it in the conflicts in the Middle East or in Ukraine. The panellists will discuss different forms of violence that proliferated as a result of the War: from right-wing terrorism to paramilitarism and revisionist inter-state wars.
