excellent series, need some clarification on import/export, I'm not producing oil at the moment but found an import trade deal where I can import oil less than the default, and found another trade deal to export oil at higher than the default. however, when I check the resource overview, it seems like I'm breaking even and it seems like the import/export are actually the default rates. shouldn't I be making a profit? or are export deals based solely on what you actually produce? some clarification on this would be great.

I can't get my factories to produce properly. they always seem to be missing a resource and I've been putting in more teamsters, made sure my mining was going and even started importing items and still no major improvement. I only have 2 steel, 3 tex, and 4 rum
-
i know this is super late but im sure that the reason why nothing was being finished was because the construction offices were way too close together.
-
tis finny because I've never run into the construction problem, though it may be because I play on 360

Just bought Tropico 5 through the Steam special and decided to do a post-internet RTFM (ReadTheF***ingManual) before playing. Thanks goodness I found your tutorial! It's made the entire game more enjoyable.
I know that it's been a year since you recorded these but I'm hoping that the construction office "bug" that you mentioned (repeatedly?) is not really an issue. I'm guessing that the problem was that you had no Construction offices near the center of your island. Sure the docks were covered but the problems DID seem to all be occurring in the center part of your map. I'm gonna play test this if I ever get to that island.
I started in Campaign mode rather than in the sandbox. I wish your tip on guard towers had been an era earlier! -
It's definitely not a bug if buildings don't get finished. Even though you don't build too much I'd still say you need a least 1 construction office / 100 citizens. Maybe it's some kind of maintainence they're busy with, I have no idea. But trust me .. if you have enough of these guys you won't run into trouble.

Just discovered your Tropico series a few days ago...really enjoying it! I have been contemplating getting the game and making some videos while i play. Any tips Skye? And if yer ever looking for someone to play with, give a holler...always up for that :) (and i'm a gal so it's a nice change of pace haha! There seems to be a lack of female gamer youtubers out there these days)

I've lurked around for a while now and really enjoyed your SimCity videos, they taught me alot, and now I'm enjoying your Tropico videos and they aswell are teaching me stuff (not to mention they made me buy the game :P). Thank you alot +Skye Storme :)

Another great episode!
Very much looking forward to the aesthetics part of the play through, though you may want to consider investing in nuclear power at some point, other wise you'll have to keep plopping more and more coal fired power stations that will spew out pollution like there's no tomorrow on top of eating up loads of workers.
(Rant ahead! not at you just Tropico stuff in general)
But, I don't buy that the Pharmaceutical Companies only require 6 workers; they're just too big! The building is multi-story, and would also need it's own maintenance staff-mechanics, janitors, security ect. Same thing with se of the other buildings, the college for example would need it's own gardeners on top of its' other maintenance staff, and since it has 6 professors, you'd think they'd be able to teach more than a measly 10 students.
Same with the High school, each teacher should have their own class of 20 or so students to teach, yet the whole building only accommodates 15.
The army base: needs probably a least 10 soldiers to stay behind and guard it, it has the towers for it, as well as general maintenance staff on top of mechanics for the tanks, which probably require a crew of 4 to fully operate, a base commander and his subordinates and aids and so forth.
Also I hope the folks at Kalypso fix that annoying construction worker bug soon, as it's becoming quite the monetary drain. -
Im on the 9th and hopefully I be up here by tonight if you havent posted more lol.

i dont recommand building parking lots, they increase traffic, use metro stations instead.
-
your very good

The Tropico construction crew since day 1 have always been lazy thus the reason for the quick build button.Your layout is amazing.

Hi +Skye Storme . I've noticed a lot of your population disappear due to starvation. If they don't have enough food and entertainment they don't perform "normally". Would you? :P
-
You need more construction offices:)
-
Cars and drugs AND new Simcity? I think I might explode! =D
-
oh man, that building bug is driving me nuts. do we know if its officially a bug or something in game yet?
-
hey Skye, im really curios about what do you do for a living, and i dont think you will tell us flat out... so - i have an idea: each video ( or every other ) you will give a hint, a clue, and the first one to guess it right you will mention him on one of your videos. how does that sound?
