TRT World - Prof. Gulnur Aybet and Ahmet Yukleyen talk about Turkey's economy after Turkey Election

Gulnur Aybet is Professor and Head of Department of Political Science and International Relations at Bahcesehir University, Istanbul, Turkey. She was founding Head of Department of International Relations at Izmir University between 2013-14. She was also Head of the International Relations Department at the Ozyeğin University of Economics and Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Kent, England between 2001-2013 and Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Nottingham, England and Assistant Professor at Bilkent University, Turkey. Her main areas of expertise are transatlantic relations, with special reference to NATO and the EU, Turkish politics and foreign policy and state building and post conflict reconstruction. She holds a BA Hons in Economics and Public Administration from Royal Holloway, Univeristy of London, an MSc in International Relations from the University of Southampton, an M. Phil in War Studies from King's College, University of London and she completed her PhD in International Relations from the University of Nottingham. Ahmet Yukleyen is Croft Associate Professor of Anthropology and International Studies at the University of Mississippi. He studied international relations at Bilkent University and completed his MA degree at the Graduate School of International Studies, University of Denver. He received his Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Boston University in 2007. His dissertation research in Germany and the Netherlands in 2003-4 was funded by grants from Wenner Gren Foundation, United States Institute of Peace, and Dutch Council of Higher Education. His book titled “Localizing Islam in Europe: Turkish Islamic Communities in Germany and the Netherlands” is published by Syracuse University Press in 2012. He has published articles in journals such as Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Contemporary Islam, Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, Immigrants and Minorities, Public Choice, Insight Turkey, and Turkish Studies. His research interests include anthropology of religion, ethnicity, Muslims in Europe, Islamic movements, and multiculturalism. He has taught at Tufts University and joined the faculty of the Sociology and Anthropology department at the University of Mississippi in 2006 where he is also affiliated with the Croft Institute for International Studies. He teaches courses on international studies, cultural anthropology, ethnic and religious identity politics in Europe, and Muslims in Western Europe and the United States. He was a senior resident fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars for 2011-12. He is a visiting scholar at Sabanci University’s Conflict Analysis and Resolution program for 2013-4.
