5. This is like boasting about Team "A" beating Team "B" in a house building competition. At first you think that's really significant, until you find out Team A had 22 men working on the house, while Team B had only 5. China has close to 1.4 billion people. The USA has 316 million. Their economy should have BEEN 4 times what the American economy is. What would be significant is a per capita analysis.
   
   China is still 91 on the Human Development Index, while the USA ranks 5th.
   
   China has a culture/society that dates back thousands of years. They have numbers on their side. What have they been doing all this time to have just surpassed our relatively small and new economy?
   
   Congrats, China - You're just getting up to speed with the rest of the world.

7. This almost seems like a daydream. America's GDP is still roughly twice that of China so, i don't see how it will be surpassing it "soon" unless they have another identical China somewhere else. 18. This is great news for China! With economic prosperity will come increased freedom for its population. It will also lead to higher standards of living, income, and just happiness in general. It won't be easy or even overnight, but eventually China could become the America of Asia.
