The Chavez revolution in Venezuela is in trouble. Food shortages are hurting the poor, inflation is at 141% per cent, and the economy in meltdown. Chavez's successor, President Nicolas Maduro, lacks his charisma and the government is now being accused of underestimating the scale of the Zika outbreak. John Sweeney reports. Lets provide some insight: Oil was nationalized in the 1970s, the $ exchange rate control is under strict goverment control, is not the first time such a scheme was applied, in the 80s a exchange rates control were imposed for a shorter period of time after decades of an overvalued Bolivar stimulated capital flight wich is exactly what happened during the chavista regime with exacerbated corruption to add to the toxic mix, controlling who has access to cheap $ is a mechanism of social/political control, the bankrupt of large sectors of the private economy was a deliberate act of economic warfare on the goverment´s behalf in other to put under regime control the leftovers of the economy and complete the economical and political hegemony in Venezuela, but the chavista in their hubris did not forseen and refuse to adress the problem of the collapse of oil prices wich prevented the import of the necesary goods to keep the economy functioning and to make matters worst, with a venezuelan private industry devastated by overregulation, price controls, exchange rate controls unable to supply the internal market, in other words, the chavista scheme acted like a bomerang and now has hit back the creators of the crisis.

Look at the obesity rate in Venezuela. These people could benefit from less food. All I saw in the food queues was a lot of sagging bellies and ugly fat asses.
-
the president selfishly thinks more of himself to admit he should step down, hes incompitent than think more for the good of people of venezuela they dont have anything theyre strting to kill each other and steal theyre moneys worth like dust
-
Why do people think it wise to surrender their individual economic freedom to the government (politicians)? Are politicians better in haggling the price of toilet paper for you? Are you not as an individual in a better position to obtain a better bargain for the fruits of your labor in the free market? This fear of not being good enough alone as an individual to transact business in a free market is the lifeblood of socialist politicians. They build on that fear. Making people subservient to them. Each person should be the saviour of himself. Unless he realize that he can't save others.

If you own a business and you treat your consumers like trash. Don't be surprised when the customers leave and you loose you business. Venezuela was the business and the US was the customer. Besides their leader got into bed Iran and Cuba. What leaders to look up to when trying to fix your own country
