War and Nation Building in Latin America: Crash Course World History 225
Economy | Information | History | Online | Facts | World | Global | Money
In which John Green teaches you about nation building and nationalism in Latin America. Sometimes, the nations of Latin America get compared to the nations of Europe, and are found wanting. This is kind of a silly comparison. The rise of democratic, economically powerful nations in Europe came about under a very different set of circumstances than the way nations arose in Latin America, so the regions are necessarily a lot different. But why? John will explore whether it was a lack of international war which impeded Latin America's growth, which sounds like a crazy thing to say, but you should hear him out. I love what John said about the US not being America. I can't believe people actually consider the US alone America, it's the most absurd thing ever. If that were true I wouldn't live in America at all

I think the thing that Canada has that the U.S. might need is access to natural resources in the Arctic. Apparently, Russia is a lot more advanced and aggressive on it's claim on those resources
-
Finally someone who reaalises that america is not only USA
-
The U.S ruined latina america by installing fascist dictators throughout the region. See Regan, Nixon, Teddy Roosevelt, and Carter for examples.

I don't think that the theory showed in this video is correct. There have been a lot of areas in the world that has been in constant war, some even intenser than Europe, and there's apparently no correlation with development.
In my opinion the true key for a development is something that Europe started around the 15th century, and it is the popularization of education: lots of universities, people's interest in intellectual ideas, diversity of opinions in matter of religion and worldview, etc. The pinnacle of this process was achieved during the 18th century, when currents like Liberalism and Rationalism emerged, and when the roots of Modern democracy were settled. -

You do a good job at driving the point that Europeans aren't better than anybody as much as they try to make it seem.

The number of views on this video reflects the general neglect of the west towards Latin America
