'What if Finland's Great Teachers Taught in Your Schools?' Pasi Sahlberg - WISE 2013 Focus
Economy | Information | History | Online | Facts | World | Global | Money
Many governments are under political and economic pressure to turn their school systems around for higher rankings in the international league tables. Canada, South Korea, Singapore and Finland are commonly used models for the nations that hope to improve teaching and learning in their schools. In search of a silver bullet, reformers now turn their attention to teachers, believing that if only they could attract "the best and the brightest" into the teaching profession the quality of education would improve. This presentation argued that just having better teachers in schools will not automatically improve students' learning outcomes. Lessons from Finland and other high-performing school systems suggest that we should also protect schools from prescribed teaching, toxic accountability, and unhealthy competition, so that all teachers can use their professional knowledge and skills in the best interests of their pupils. This is amazing. We need to keep teachers at the school instead of leaving the profession or going to different schools every few years. It's about the whole culture, cultural value and philosophy about developing people, not test scores. There is no shortcut.

ONLY RIGHT AMOUNT OF EDUCATION WILL TURN STUDENTS AS INTELLIGENT. PRESENT 2 DECADES OF EDUCATION IS ACTUALLY TURNING STUDENTS AS IDIOT. Because due to any reason when people isolate from da practice world, they cannot have da knowledge about practical world.
I am not da first r list person to say, but many people had said long back. In thelugu language there is a saying as "chadhivina vaadikanna saakaloodu mealu" which mean instead of an educated an uneducated dhoobi (cloth washer) is better.
Moreover Mr, Raaja-bayya da present (2016) cabinet minister of Chief minister Mr. Akhileash Singh yaadhav, didn't gone to school, because his father was aware of da fact as da educated are coward.
Nobody can remember even 10% of da education through which they had gone. Moreover brain is not built to store 2 decades of education, nor it can processes.
EDUCATION IS JUST LIKE NEWS PAPER, READ TODAY FORGET TOMORROW. SO EDUCATION IS DA WORLDS BIGGEST HYPE, SUPERSTITION, WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, ND ENERGY, ND DA LIST IS END LESS. MOREOVER MOST OF DA WORLDS GREATEST PERSONALITIES WERE UNDER EDUCATED OR NOT SO BRIGHT STUDENTS. FOR EXAMPLE BILL GATES, SWAMY VIVEKANANDHA, EINSTEIN, RAAMAANUJAM, STEVE JOBS, & MANY MORE. AND HUMAN BRAIN IS NOT BUILT TO REMEMBER OR PROCESS 2 DECADES OF EDUCATION.
I HAD CAME ACROSS WITH BOTH EDUCATED AND UNDER EDUCATED, AND OBSERVED. UNDER EDUCATED R HIGHLY CAPABLE, AT DA SAME TIME EDUCATED PEOPLE CAPABILITIES R VERY LESS.
MY WORDS R AS TRUE AS DA WORLD IS NOT FLAT, BUT WHO CAN CHANGE DA MANIAC WORLD. -
What a great similarity in comparing Teaching System with a Football Team :)

Do notice that finnish education still is really good.
But, the school food is really bad.
Teachers make us quiet about food.
We can't say anything about it.
Sometimes when we have soup. There is really mysterious black, grey, etc. spots. Potatoes are either rock hard, or rubber.
Well, we can have good exercise with the potatoes tho. Gymnastic or volleyball.
Eggs, holy crap those are really bad. They are either: raw, over cook, "old".
Sayed old like that because we aren't allowed to complain about the food.
Bread is dry. Or just hard.
Milk is good ! Better than home.
Minimal use of salt. So you can't even trick your self to eat the food.
There was day when there was good food.
Ouh yeah.
Finland is poor these days.
That's the reason.
Ouh and the food makes people usually ill. -
Of course Finland on the 22nd of MARCH here we must remember Mike Williams of Edgewater College
-
I am lucky to have spent a year in Finnish schools lukio and yliopuisto.

I do not think anything significant would change. Overall ambiance, culture and mind sets must change too. For example, in Finnish schools there is flexibility, assessments are personalized and teachers plan according to the needs of students.

Lange opleiding Finse leraars versus korte opleiding Vlaamse leraars
