Why Cuban cab drivers earn more than doctors

In Cuba, cab drivers are the one percent Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Cuba’s economy works as a central planning model, where government ministries dole out resources and set everything from prices to inventories to salaries. The fact that a taxi driver can make so much more than a physician is a reflection of the Cuban government’s heavy focus on tourism. For years, the central planning apparatus has valued tourism as a key mechanism for both bringing in revenue as well as propagating the idea that Cuba is thriving. Many pesos are collected by the high prices on everything related to the tourism industry. I know this feeling really well. The shitty pay, black market, one party system lack of quality of life. How you may ask? Well im from Estonia (ex-communist country), as shitty as capitalism is, communism is many many times worse and i'd rather be a captialist pig then a poor, hungry communist slave. But thankfully, the current Estonia is a pretty good place to live at, we got defence, a good gdp, tourism, a stable currency (€).
thank you for reading this long post
and
I wish you a good day -
The start of this reminds me of that old joke they had in the Eastern block in the 80s; we pretended to work and they pretended to pay us.

Wow, that is telling as to why government control is futile. People do whatever it takes to survive.
-
Capitalist.

Liberals be like Fidel was a hero

Her shire, has a way.

Capitalism, allows for inheritances and private feifdoms, but competition means that in order for a company to survive, the best should be promoted lest competitors do so. And so, ownership is separated from control. This is known as the principal-agent problem in economics. And the quest to find the most noblest knight who could be entrusted to protect the king's interests, in those king arthur tales.

Yep, and you have a ruling class, who probably desire the best for their children though they not be that bright, so they become the new ruling class.. so, how different from the nazis who speak of bloodlines determining who should rule?
-
When the wall went up, they who had, owned cars, had the option of becoming cab drivers, lest the communists took their cars from them. So today, the cab drivers are driving what are in the Free West, collectible automobiles.

Sad. Communism never works.

Same thing used to be true in Poland just 20 year ago

and this is the system Justin and Jeremy praised after Castro death

Wow. I guess I can't be surprised though, I feel as though this is how most if not all people in the developing world get by (certainly in Nigeria). You either are born well off with the resources to sustain you regardless of your aptitude (rare) or you are born with the aptitude, get lucky enough to be trained in a good career and/or emigrate to a place where you can obtain that training and put it to use outside your country (contributing to the brain drain that nationalists in your new country will spitefully point out as they blame you for why your mother country has problems -remember, you're one of the lucky ones if this is happening to you). Less commonly, you have the aptitude and some luck which enables you to become a trained professional in your country, but there are no good jobs available for you so you supplement your income with 2-3 jobs (all or some of which skirt the "law"). But most commonly, your lot in life will be one where in spite of you aptitude, you can't get an education and you also can't get a decent living wage, forcing you sell, trade, etc in less than legal ways to survive. Try not to get caught, as people in the developed world marvel at how ignorant you all must be for not just fixing all your own problems.

This video might be a bit accurate but yet this is completely inaccurate
I'm a cuban citizen
i left cuba when i was a kid to have a better life. In reality i did have a better one once i moved out of that communist country
In reality some of the things they are saying don't make sense and are completely outdated
btw i'm taking into account when the video was posted
but now on to the point
my grandfather and uncle are both taxi drivers to this day. Trust me when i tell you they don't make 60$ on their worst day.
My grandpa makes about 5 dollars on a good day and the fee to take out his car is 15$
so tell me how you explain the math.
My uncle however is a hustler and he works his ass off for the whole day. he over prices tourists
and yet at my family's house they sometimes don't even have enough to eat.
So don't take into account the whole taxi thing.
also
when the guy was saying about the whole restaurants
he went to what you can call the worst of the worst little corner stops
and in reality it is like he said they only have ham sandwiches and that's on a good day.
In reality however if he really wanted to get some good food on a state own establishment he could have just gone to an actual restaurant owned by the state
like el palenque and el aljibe
My whole argument is not that cuba is not as bad as it seems
in reality it's way worse then this video makes it seem
but the points that the guy who made the video brought up are crappy ones compared to some of the ones that you can actually make with plenty of evidence to back you up -
Why their not work in other country? With their education their should be rich by now
-
Like a lot of options in food is a good thing. Also if the doctor makes more the medical expenses goes high

Communism never works, proven example.
