Will Brexit hurt the UK and Europe? - UpFront
Economy | Information | History | Online | Facts | World | Global | Money
As UK citizens prepare to vote next week on whether to remain part of the European Union, what impact will a potential "Brexit" have on the global economy? In this week's UpFront, we ask Angel Gurria, the secretary-general of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development, about the EU referendum and the OECD's 2016 Economic Survey on the US economy. In the Reality Check, we look at how economic sanctions often cause more harm than good. And in the Arena, we debate the pros and cons of Universal Basic Income with Swiss Senator Andrea Caroni and expert Dylan Matthews.

This guy does not have a clue what he is talking about.
Ironically he is with OECD. Scary!!
The great recession began last 2008. The origin of the economic decline, USA, survived and managed to turn their economy around. Yet majority of EU member states economies are still in the doldrums since 2008.
Greece, up to now is in a sort of depression since their economy fell apart. Last April a retired Greek shot himself in broad daylight, because the government of Greece was forced to wipe out his pension (May he rest in peace).
Italy's banks are heavily exposed in debt. One of the banks is Monte De Paschi. Also, the Italian economy started shrinking since they've adapted the EURO. Is Italy the next Greece?
So, is that man, whose name I cannot be bothered to write on my comment, is telling us that it is better for the UK to tie itself to EU's sinking ship?
As I see it - "the Eurozone and the EURO is the blockage of the world's economy". It is a protectionist machine that will eventually damage its own member states.
The upper echelons are aware of such predicament. Hence, they forced the free movement policy on all its members. The Free Movement is like a sponge that soaks other member nations unemployed. Hence, the Italian population dropped, which is detrimental to Italian economy.
I will leave the rest to your imagination. -
Hassan cannot even pretend to take an objective view on any subject. He's more of a propagandist than a journalist, he tries to mold point of view

Stop talking out of your arses. 5th biggest economy in the world will be better off

If you don't want wars or sanctions, what are YOUR ideas, Mehdi?

"Investment" by governments is synonymous with deficit spending.

These would be the same "experts" who didn't see that any short term benefits from the euro for Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece would be overwhelmed by long term disastrous consequences.

Vote LEAVE and you will have made the most important decision for Britain for at least the next 100 years. Vote remain and you will have made the last decision for Britain. The British people must continue to make decisions for Britain. Vote LEAVE!!!

Out, and stuff the EU, no budget needed, two year's to leave the EU, and in that time we are full members, lying gits. They screwed Greece into the ground.

is a UBI necessary in a society which the basic needs are met without money? if basic housing was free (something asbasic as big as a bedroom) and food a basic nutritional supplement was given?
-
"getting nothing " ? they will be getting back there freedom and freedom not free.

There's a small chance i could lose my job if we vote out & things could be more expensive but this referendum isn't just about me. I will be voting to leave the EU on the 23rd because it will be better for future generations & thats what is important to me. VOTE LEAVE.

I stopped the video on...the murder of.....Some are linking to the vitriol of........ Yes that SOME are people who want to influence a legitimate vote by tenuously connecting this sad event to a political outcome. The whole thing is extremely suspect. As desperately sad as it is, to conect the events to a legitimate democratic event is a perverse attempt to stigmatize one side of the voting public. And the 350 million that is spent each and every week can go toward proper health care for people with mental health challenges, like the man responsible for the murder.

The OECD official didn't even admit his neoliberal policies contributed to inequality . I am a Muslim and I don't agree with the anti Islamic comments on this forum but I totally agree with Brits who want Brexit it's a about sovereignty
-
Sorry... but the people of Britain value democracy over a ruthless continental bureaucracy. keep your death threats and silly scare tactics up David Cameron's bottom.

Vote leave!!

Standard & Poor's were recently fined $77m for fraud. British banks have been fined and have had to repay customers for the PPI scandal. Goldman Sachs paid for prostitutes, and help lied to get Greece to join the EU.
These are the 'experts' that Mr Angel Gurria seems to be talking about.
Oh, and what all about those Lehman Brothers experts? They certainly know how to run an investment bank!
What Mr Angel Gurria, and all those Remainers, don't understand is this is not just about money. It is about sovereignty and having full control over how the UK is run, by the UK Parliament, and not an un-elected cabal in the EU.
