The countries that want to stay in Europe, are the one's that are prospering the most through progressivism as opposed to jingoism. Hence why the debt ridden, failing economy, subsidy dependent England, blamed EU immigrants on their problems and want to leave, whilst the economic powerhouse Scotland definitely wants to remain.

The EU has already fallen apart. U.K left and Greece is very close to leaving. EU has failed with controlling immigration and now some European countries could be Islamic majority in 2050. Switzerland didn't join EU and they are a very rich country because of it.

Whatever the need might be the EU WILL fail if it does not change. The question should never be leave or stay but rather leave stay or fix it.
You can't and will never have fiscal unity without political unity. EU tried to have some central control with rules regarding % deficit etc but these are regularly ignored. Rules have got to be enforced and to do that states will have to give up sovereignty to the central body..
And the effectiveness and inclusiveness of the centralised democracy has to improve - you can't have Merkel arbitrarily throw open the EU broaders by saying "make it to Germany and you will be safe" -
