The war positivelychanged the roles of women and African Americans, but it was pretty terrible for the Japanese Americans who were interred in camps. In short, World War II changed America's role in the world, changed American life at home, and eventually spawned the History Channel. Quick point of order. At 8:42 there is a painting shown while John talks about Mexican Americans serving in the armed forces. The problems are: 1. This is a painting by Dominic D'Andrea of the 65th Infantry Regiment, part of Puerto Rican National Guard which is mostly Puerto Ricans not Mexican Americans, 2. This is also a depiction from the Korean War not WWII. As a Mexican American Veteran I can attest to the fact that people often get confused by the different nationalities among Hispanics, but I think it is important to avoid contributing to the problem by interchanging different people in educational videos.

So the us home front created many military bases and if you live in a small town like mine that has an airport you can credit it to ww2 with your airport may have been a airbase for the us military and my cousin lives right next to such a airport with a bunker created in 1941 witch I have gone down into with him and found a m3 Greece gun and thompson magazine and a thompson with its wood rooted of the city had blocked of the rest and there is a rumor since I was not born when this rumor started I can't confirm it but back to the matter at hand so the rumor is that behind the sealed section There is a Willis jeep and and armory it has been 4 years since I last was there so I still want to find out

Seattle, Portland/Vancouver, Columbia RIver military forts and portages, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego were all military and commercial industry developments. Portland/Vancouver was the start of the Kaiser Jeep industry (and their expansions into the Kaiser Medical sector). All of these cities also built portions of the Liberty Ship and Merchant Marine fleets.
